Historic Stahl Building

OUR PARTNERS

Our biggest project to date has been managing the renovation of the Historic Stahl Building on Main Street. AMA purchased the building in 2017 and is actively working to restore the building to serve as a community gathering and event space for Athena. AMA headquarters is also located in a portion of the building.

An important part of our work includes seeking grant opportunities to fund the restoration of the Historic Stahl Building. Athena Mainstreet appreciates the financial support, and welcomes the opportunity to spread those dollars around our local region purchasing materials and hiring professional contractors.

OREGON MAIN STREET

Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant

Awarded $171,000

Reimbursement grant for the Historic Stahl Building Phase 1 Restoration including extensive cleaning and an entirely new HVAC system, complete electrical upgrade to 3-phase power, plumbing, paint, and other upgrades to the building. We appreciate the care these contractors used to honor the integrity and character of this historic building.

Thank you to Thew's Sheet Metal (Pendleton) and Justin Stewart for the meticulously installed HVAC system and ventilation.

Thank you to Gordon's Electric (Pendleton) for the major electrical upgrade to 3-phase power, new surface-conduit wiring and outlets, removing the old tube lighting, and wiring and installation of vintage lighting fixtures.

Thank you to Carter's Plumbing (Milton-Freewater) for the all-new, hookup to sewer, expertly-installed plumbing for the building. Nate also made a custom drain and plumbing for the old utility sink at the Stahl. This sink was used at the Weston-McEwen High School shop class for decades, and was rescued for use as a utility/handwashing sink.

WILDHORSE FOUNDATION

Wildhorse Foundation Grant

OREGON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Oregon Community Foundation Grant

Awarded $30,000

Grant for the construction of two new ADA restrooms at the Historic Stahl Building.

Thank you Graham Construction (Athena) for doing a great job building these for us! The restrooms were designed to fit in with the rest of the 1904 structure, leaving as much original features intact as we could. Jeff did a great job working within those parameters to realize our vision for these all-accessible restrooms.

A special thank you to Carter's Plumbing (Milton-Freewater) for re-plumbing the entire building from water main, to the building, and all new clear back to the sewer line. This was a monumental task and was completed in expert fashion.

WILDHORSE FOUNDATION

ATHENA-WESTON EDUCATION AND RESOURCE ENHANCEMENT
